Situated between Woodcat Coffee and Andante, the San Francisco specialty coffee brand recently opened another location right in the heart of Echo Park on Sunset. Designed by Wade Design Architects, the space features communal seating and two-tops, a new 360 degree barista island, and a retail wall. Simbal :: A Southeast Asian Restaurant in Little Tokyo

Former Top Chef contestant Shawn Pham returns home to Los Angeles with the opening of Simbal, a new Southeast Asian restaurant in the heart of Little Tokyo. On the menu, Chef Pham offers chili jam mussels with tamarind and fried Chinese donut, to a redolent banh mi panzanella salad. 1930's Laurel Canyon :: Theadora Van Runkle Estate

Odys + Penelope :: A Modern Grillhouse on La Brea

Karen and Quinn Hatfield, the husband-and-wife chef team behind the Sycamore Kitchen in Los Angeles, recently debuted Odys + Penelope on La Brea. Local designer Alexis Readinger of Preen Inc. integrated firewood into the design, conceiving large cutouts in the wall near the open kitchen to store the wood for the grills and smoker. Formerly a printing press structure, the space features exposed brick, steel ceiling beams, concrete flooring, plywood seating, and other industrial elements connected to its manufacturing past. Los Angeles Design Festival 2015

Celebrate LA's outstanding aesthetic heritage at this annual three-week design festival. Tours, exhibitions panels and parties will be staged all over the city.
