Martha and Debe's passion for gardening is evident in the verdant sanctuary they've created surrounding their restored bungalow in Pasadena.
You can read more about their garden and home which has been featured this month in American Bungalow.
What do you love most about your home?
MARTHA: That it is a
sanctuary.
DEBE: That it is a sanctuary.
What drew you to your home?
MARTHA: The simplicity of the design of
the house, the mature fruit trees, the spaciousness of the yard.
DEBE: The yard, craftsman design, and
that it could be a wonderful project
What is your favorite thing to do at home?
MARTHA: To work in my office with the
windows open, enjoying the various seasons of the garden. Playing with my grandchildren in my office. Enjoying
the "rainbows" created as the sun comes through the various glass
knick knacks on the window sill. Enjoying the company of others on the
patio.
DEBE: Work in the garden creating new
spaces and design, sitting outside at twilight, watching the wildlife enjoy the
space.
When I'm home I feel...?
MARTHA: Content, at peace.
DEBE: Centered and content.
What makes your home "Art"?
MARTHA: The colors and the harmony that
they create along with all the other "touches".
DEBE: The creative way everything comes
together. The color choices of both the buildings and plants and the unique
temperament of each space.
