Meet the lovely and talented Jessica Davis - Interior Designer and founder of Nest Studio and The Eagle's Nest blog. The eclectic Tudor home she shares with her husband Scott and adorable baby Bryan, is now available for sale.
What do you love most
about your home? The living and dining room. We made a conscious decision not
to put the TV in the living room, so this is a room that is purely for relaxing
and entertaining. I had the lanterns custom made by a friend who owns an
iron works factory and they really fill the volume of the space and accentuate
the height. I love how open the space is and that the living and
dining areas fit so well into the one room. It's great for parties.
And at Christmas time, the room is stunning with a tall Christmas
tree framed by the front window and the fireplace dressed up for the occasion
with stockings and garland. (You can view photos of Christmas décor HERE)
What drew you to your home? The
architecture and authenticity. My
husband and I didn't have a particular style of home that we were looking for,
but we knew that we wanted a house that had a sense of stylistic integrity
whether it be mid-century post and beam, Spanish revival, Tudor or something
else. When we saw our house we jumped on it. The beams in the
living room, the original steel framed windows with pull-down screens, the
magnesite floors in the entry, vintage stove and paneled study all gave
the house so much character.
What is your favorite thing to do at home? Entertain! The house is
so great for parties, not only indoors but out. We have two decks, one above
the garage and one above the kitchen. We've put a lot of work into the
landscaping as well and really enjoy entertaining outside with friends and
enjoying the fruits of our labors.
When I'm home I feel...? Comfortable and at ease. They
don't say "home is where the heart is" for no reason. Our house
has fit our lifestyle so perfectly. The office is like a tree house and
is really the perfect place to get work done. It's also nice that the
guest room is downstairs which affords us some privacy when the in-laws come to
visit. Our neighborhood is so quiet and it really feels like a little
oasis just 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown LA where
I work.
What makes your home "ART"? Our home is
an expression of our personal style and the way we live our lives. It's
an eclectic mix of modern elements set in a traditional framework. We've
put our stamp on every element in our home and for that reason it is our
expression and own piece of "Art". I am a studio artist as well
as designer and we have created the unique art pieces and collections of items
found within our home. For that reason, the art itself makes our home
unique.
