Simbal :: A Southeast Asian Restaurant in Little Tokyo

Former Top Chef contestant Shawn Pham returns home to Los Angeles with the opening of Simbal, a new Southeast Asian restaurant in the heart of Little Tokyo. On the menu, Chef Pham offers chili jam mussels with tamarind and fried Chinese donut, to a redolent banh mi panzanella salad. Barman Brandyn Tepper creates an appropriate cocktail list infusing Southeast Asian flavors, plus fortified wines, craft beers, and fermented spirits. Here’s a peek inside.

Forma :: Santa Monica's Newest Italian Restaurant and Cheese Bar

Forma, the product of chef Piero Topputo, GM Mario Sabatini and Robert Donnell, is a contemporary Italian restaurant and cheese bar on Santa Monica's ritzy Montana Avenue strip. The space features an airy modern take on the Italian trattoria, with a sleek L-shaped marble bar. The menu highlights California ingredients into Italian fare - from grilled octopus with lentils to fresh tagliolini past with heirloom mushrooms.
