Mediterranean Estate

This stately Mediterranean home appears to be a well-maintained example of Pasadena’s long and well respected architectural history. However, this estate was designed, built and completed in 2010 by the current owners. Exquisitely situated on a large, flat, private lot and located in the coveted Caltech neighborhood of Pasadena you will find this Wallace Neff inspired masterpiece.

Gracious first level rooms include: a grand entry, step down living room, library, formal dining room, butlers pantry, kitchen, morning room, family room, powder room, wine room and fifth bedroom; en-suite with bath. The loggia which extends nearly the full length of the house offers multiple sets of casement french doors that lead you to the covered outdoor living room with fireplace and expansive, sun drenched park-like lawn areas. The grounds and gardens were designed by Mark Bartos and include a beautiful pool/spa, cabana and offer multiple entertaining areas. The second level features a large landing and hall, four en-suite bedrooms, Laundry room, back stairs and multiple balconies. The grand master suite offers a sitting area with a fireplace, a luxurious bathroom, large walk-in closet and balcony.

This estate has been meticulously appointed by the owner/designer with little expense spared or the smallest of details overlooked. It is ideal for entertaining on a grand scale with wonderful indoor/outdoor opportunities and amazing space and volume. A unique glass and wrought iron door lead into a dramatic entryway with Crema Marfil floors, 20 foot ceilings and a sweeping marble staircase. An expansive gourmet kitchen area with Calacatta d’ Oro marble counter tops, American walnut floors, and top of the line appliances are just a few of the numerous amenities. Five fireplaces, elaborate crown moldings, arched doorways, custom designed lighting fixtures, and paneled doors give a wonderful sense of quality, permanence and old world quality craftsmanship.

Wallace Neff, Architect :: 1922

Wallace Neff designed this American Colonial Revival house in 1922 for Mr. J.K. Baillie, a Director of Lincoln Mortgage Company on this almost flat acre in the Cal-Tech area. A barn from the 1880s is used today as a three car garage with copious storage areas. There is a large pool, six- hole putting green in addition to large front and rear gardens. The current owners purchased the property in 1998 and have completely renovated and restored the property. Features include a large living room with a fireplace, a library with a fireplace, a paneled dining room, butler's pantry, kitchen/family room, laundry room and a bedroom and bath down. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, the Master Bath having been remodeled in 2012 and finished in blue Azul du Mare marble. The kitchen features a viking Range, Sub-Zero refrigerator, 2 Bosch dishwashers and a Meile Washer and Dryer. There is Central Air throughout and room for expansion.
