Although trained by Neutra, a salute to Frank Lloyd Wright is evidenced throughout, especially in the way Harris handles the site. In keeping with Wright's admonition that the building should be of the Hill, and not on the Hill, Harris carefully sets the garage into the slope, and elevates Professor Laing's grand Salon above the garage to frame a picturesque view, while utilizing a portion of the garage roof as an outdoor dining terrace.
